Murrumbeena Community Art garden grand opening

After 8 1/2 months of working at least weekly, sometimes more often this Art Project was opened.

There were a lot of people present, invited guests, friends, Artists, Rotarians and many interested in this community.

What started as a small project became a much larger one.  The fence on the back left of the Koonang Uniting Church was beautifully decorated with tiles, all painted by members of the community, residents in nursing homes in the area, schools, Yoralla members, artists, Rotarians, and people who dropped into the Thursday pancake sessions.

Five Totem Poles were erected.  The poles being decorated on the Thursday morning open sessions, and the heads being made by a group of artists who helped Anthony Breslin bring his dream to reality.  These were placed among the community garden plots.  At the base of each totem pole is a seat, also decorated on the Thursday mornings.

The back wall of the Church building and part of its side wall were also decorated by work of the artists and Anthony Breslin.

It was a pleasure to behold.
