Murrumbeena Art Project
There have been many weeks when the Community have been involved in painting. The initial idea came from Anthony Breslin who has supervised the whole project, often under difficult circumstances.
Firstly, the fence and wall were painted blue.
Then the totem poles were also painted blue, as were some seat slabs and the heads.
Then the decorating fun started. With finely balanced totem poles on wood, the poles were decorated on two sides then turned over and the other two sides decorated. see photos.
The heads were then being very creatively painted by members of the Glen Eira Artists Society. Can't wait to see the finished products.
The seats have also been decorated now.
A few community groups took home tiles to decorate and today (28th May) these tiles were attached to the fence and wall out back of the church. (more photos for you to see)
Over the next few weeks the seats will be made and placed outside near the totem poles, inside the community garden area. I can't wait to spend time sitting there contemplating the "art extraordinary" and also life in general.
